Terms of service

Last updated: 2026-10-24.

These terms govern your use of the Étoiles app and website, provided by Jonathan Bell, an individual (“we”, “us”). By using Étoiles you agree to them.

1. What Étoiles is

Étoiles searches the documents, mail, calendar and contacts that you choose to bring in, and writes answers that cite their sources. The free Personal edition runs on your device. Personal Pro (several accounts, on device) is planned and will be sold through Apple. Business cloud plans are planned and will be billed by us. Features, editions and prices may change, and some are not available yet.

2. Your content and accounts

3. Answers can be wrong

Answers are generated by AI from your content and may be incomplete or mistaken. Each answer cites the passage it relied on so that you can check it. Do not rely on an answer alone for medical, legal, financial or other important decisions.

4. Acceptable use

Do not use Étoiles to break the law, to access content you have no right to access, to attack or overload the service or its providers, to reverse engineer it except as the law allows, or to resell it without our written agreement.

5. Paid plans

Business plans are not yet offered. Terms for price, billing period, renewal, taxes, cancellation and refunds will be published before any paid plan opens. Purchases made through Apple are also subject to Apple’s terms.

6. Third-party services

Étoiles works with services such as Google and Apple, and Business plans are planned to use other providers listed in the privacy policy. Their own terms apply to your use of them, and we are not responsible for their availability.

7. Availability, changes and ending use

We may change, suspend or stop any part of Étoiles. You can stop using it at any time and delete your data as described in the privacy policy. We may suspend access if you breach these terms.

8. No warranty and limit of liability

Étoiles is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind to the extent the law allows. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, and your statutory consumer rights are unaffected.

9. Changes to these terms; contact

We may update these terms and will change the date above when we do. Questions: [email protected].
